Abstract

Fentanyl is an opioid analgesic that is used as a co- induction in patients undergoing general anesthesia. The use of intravenous fentanyl can cause a cough known as fentayl-induced cough (FIC). Many cases of Fentayl-induced cough (FIC) are associated with the speed of fentanyl injection. This can lead to adverse effects associated with increased intracranial pressure, intraocular or intraabdominal pressure. To determine the difference in speed of fentanyl injection as co-induction on the incidence of fentanyl-induced cough (FIC) by comparing the speed of 5 seconds and 20 seconds. This research method is a quasi-experimental design using post test only control design with Mann Whitney test. Based on the results of the Mann Whitney statistical test, the incidence of FIC between 5 seconds of fentanyl injection and 20 seconds of fentanyl injection in surgical patients was obtained p < 0.000 (p < 0.05). Based on the results of research and discussion that has been stated with the title "Comparison of 5 seconds and 20 seconds fentanyl injection speed on the incidence of FENTANYL INDUCED COUGH (FIC)" it can be concluded that there is a significant difference from Comparison of 5 seconds and 20 seconds fentanyl injection speed on the incidence of FENTANYL INDUCED COUGH (FIC) in patients with general anesthesia actions at Simo Boyolali Hospital with p =<0.000.
